Our Founder

Founder
Late Captain Dr. Ramlan bin Ramli
Our founder, the late Captain Dr. Ramlan bin Ramli, was a Ship Captain who offered services to the maritime industry. This includes the shipping insurance, offshore, petrochemical as well as occupational health and safety industries. He was also an international consultant in this field. His outstanding service entitled him to the status of Captain of a merchant ship when he was only 28 years old. After obtaining a Master’s degree from the School of Navigation, a leading maritime academy in Indonesia, he completed his PhD, earning the title of Dr. He was once appointed as a Part-time Lecturer and Advisor of the council of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, proving his dedication in deepening and further developing the country’s maritime field. At the international level, he was once called upon to represent Indonesia in the International Maritime Organization organized by the United Nations and also tasked to develop a security’s act in the maritime field.
As the International Maritime Organization (IMO) introduced more legislations to regulate the shipping and maritime industry, Allahyarham Captain Dr. Ramlan realized that there was an urgent need to provide appropriate education and training to improve and enhance the competency levels of the players in the industry. Therefore, he took the initiative to establish the RANACO Education and Training Institute (RETI) in 2004. He passed away on 24th July 2014.
